The Beginning – Do’s and Dont’s Before Starting a Weight Loss Regimen

Cliché I know but if I were to get a nickel for every time google finds a nutrition article on the web I literally would be so rich I could become Barbie herself if I wanted to. Luckily, I don’t want to be Barbie and I just want to be me.

Before making the leap and setting in stone that starting a new healthy lifestyle is your path please make sure you are serious.  Unless, along the way you became ill or something out of your control happened then it’s understandable.  But for your sake, don’t put in the countless hours of hard work only to throw it away later.  So, if you are making the choice, make it for the long haul. Don’t make it a diet or a fad make it a lifestyle change.

First and foremost for the fatty ass gene people like me know that your body is different. So from my experience take it slow because from one month to the next year your body can respond differently than it did a year ago. So taking it slow and paying attention to your body is key here.

This also goes for people with auto immune disorders which can also go hand in hand with bad genes. For example, hypothyroidism is an auto immune disorder and causes weight gain.  Most likely, your mom, dad, sister, brother has/ had it also and they also struggle with weight.

Second thing I want to address is for the people that used to be really active and for some unexplainable reason you are constantly tired, drained, exhausted.  Of course, go to the doctor and get your levels checked but chances are you’ve already done that and every doctor tells you you are fine.  You might have a parasite problem. Parasites can steal your energy and vital nutrients that you are supposed to be getting causing you be extremely exhausted for no damn reason.

Don’t believe me? Go google online symptoms of parasites and just an FYI avoid articles with pictures or videos.  Reading is enough for believing in this case.  In my next article I will recommend the products I took, the best protocol, cost effective path to take. Believe me, its gold. Going through a parasite cleanse is another entirely different post but it’s worth it if it’s actually the parasites that are ridding you of life’s joy and energy.

Third, do consider doing the Whole30.

Working Out At Home

Working out at home isn’t for everyone but for me it was a great decision in the beginning of my fitness journey.  In my last post, I talked about why I started working out at home. Click here to go straight to that post and read about it.

Should you decide to go the same route that I did and begin your workout regimen from the comfort of your home it is ideal to start  a program.

My house is currently under renovation and I’ve specifically created a room for a home gym.  The current plumber that is working on our house said to me that he would like to get back into shape but its just so hard having no time and working late hours.  I suggested the same to him, to pick a program and do it from the comfort of your own home.

He also suggested having a bathroom close by incase you have to use the restroom you are not running upstairs and possibily losing motivation. Check out Unlimited Plumbing and Drains Here to see more plumbers ideas for the ideal workout space.

I would recommend following a program, I did P90X.  There are a lot of different programs out there. Pick one and stick  with it and push yourself here.

Get Off Your Ass and Ignite that Fire

Your day is not over until you come from the gym. Pack your bag the night before and go to the gym straight from work. No excuses. Once you get there, you will get motivated and you will start to feel betters.  Some days are easier then others, but as long as you are willing to give it everything you got or at least try your best you are bound to come out feeling better.

I remember when I did a round of P90X ,what’s his face says, “you have to get the layer of gunk off from the day or the day before” and he’s right. I love that feeling of sweating and working to get that layer of gunk off. Because that layer is so many things….its those calories being burned, its getting your heart rate up, its therapeutic because you have to focus, its releasing anger, pent up aggression. Its fighting the will.

I see it like this, you look in the mirror and you are so unhappy with the way you look but if you don’t do anything to change it than in my eyes looking that way  exceeds your laziness. Get off your arse and make it happen and don’t make excuses. It is that last sprint and that last rep that make a difference.  You take a class and the teachers says, “lets get those legs and do some squats” and the repsone? “awwww man, I just did legs yesterday.” You know what I say? Excuses and blah blah blah.
